AI Solutions Manager
Job Title: AI Solutions Manager
Department: Publishing Operations
Contract: 12 month fixed term, full-time
Location: London with occasional travel to Petersfield and Basingstoke
We are looking for two AI Solutions Managers to be at the forefront of Pan Macmillan’s digital transformation, turning the potential of AI into practical, high-impact solutions that empower our creative, commercial, and operational teams. From optimizing metadata to streamlining global workflows, your task will be to translate business challenges into scalable AI solutions.
Your team:
You will be part of the Technology team within the Publishing Operations department, working closely with stakeholders and partners to identify opportunities for innovation. Our team helps bridge the gap between the business and deep technology, implementing solutions where possible or working closely with our US development team or our Group level AI company Chaptr to complete more complex deliverables.
Your role:
As an AI Solutions Manager, you will lead on the identification, design, and delivery of practical AI-enabled solutions that create measurable value across Pan Macmillan. You will be responsible for translating complex business challenges into pragmatic, testable AI solutions and enabling teams to adopt new ways of working.
Your key responsibilities:
Lead End-to-End AI Solution Delivery: Identify, design, and deliver practical AI-enabled solutions that solve complex publishing challenges, ensuring every initiative maps back to measurable business value.
Rapid Prototyping & Experimentation: Hands-on development of proof-of-concept tools using low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Cursor, Lovable, Zapier, Python scripts) to quickly demonstrate ‘the art of the possible’ and gather immediate user feedback.
Strategic Stakeholder Partnership: Act as the bridge between technology and the business, facilitating discovery workshops with stakeholders at all levels across divisions to prioritize high-value AI use cases and co-create actionable roadmaps.
Agile Project Management: Lead and manage the lifecycle of AI initiatives within a structured framework (Scrum, Kanban, or Lean), defining clear milestones and project scopes to ensure projects transition smoothly from experimental prototypes to business-wide resources.
Tool Adoption & Change Management: Design and implement new workflows to embed AI tools into the daily fabric of the organization, providing the coaching and onboarding necessary to ensure teams adopt new, AI-augmented ways of working.
Global Knowledge Synthesis: Collaborate with the wider Holtzbrinck group (including Chaptr) to align on best practices, shared prompt libraries, and agentic workflows, ensuring Pan Macmillan remains at the forefront of AI innovation in the publishing industry.
Essential experience, abilities, knowledge and values you’ll need to succeed:
Proven AI Solution Delivery: Experience identifying business opportunities where AI can deliver measurable impact, with a track record of taking projects from initial discovery through to scaled implementation.
Prototyping Skills: Hands-on ability to build and iterate on proof-of-concept tools using low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Notion AI, Vibe, Lovable) and integration tools such as Zapier, Make, or Python scripts.
LLM & Automation Expertise: Deep understanding of Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities — including advanced prompting, agentic workflows, and fine-tuning — paired with the ability to evaluate emerging AI vendors for business fit.
Strategic Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical, jargon-free terms for non-technical audiences and senior leadership.
Agile & Experimental Mindset: Demonstrated experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, or Lean), with a ‘test-and-learn’ approach to solving problems and a commitment to data-informed decision-making.
Technical Liaison & Compliance: Experience collaborating with data, technology, and legal teams to navigate integration requirements, data privacy, and the regulatory considerations of AI.
Inclusion and Representation: An active dedication to promoting diverse voices and inclusive practices, taking personal responsibility for ensuring our workplace and our publishing reflect the communities we serve.
Community: A collaborative approach to building a supportive and vibrant environment.
Curiosity: A strong drive for learning and a readiness to embrace different perspectives.
Integrity: A foundation of openness and honesty, taking responsibility for actions and learning from mistakes.
Desirable skills we’d love you to have:
Experience in building applications as a developer or technical BA.
Working knowledge of data, data structures and working with databases
What you’ll get in return:
In return we can offer you a range of great projects, a supportive and collaborative working environment as well as a competitive salary and benefits package.
Closing date: 9 February 2026
