Head of Online Sales and Strategy
Are you motivated by driving digital growth and shaping high-impact commercial strategy? We’re looking for a Head of Online Sales and Strategy to lead our online print and ebook sales and play a pivotal role in how our books reach readers.
Your team:
The UK Sales team are responsible for all sales of our books in the UK and Ireland. We manage and maintain relationships with buyers and booksellers, from large online retailers to small independent bookshops. We pitch new books to retailers and aim to get our books the best placement and visibility in shops and online.
Your role:
As the Head of Online Sales and Strategy, you will lead our trading relationships with key online retailers and shape our ebook strategy across all divisions. Your work will blend commercial insight, strategic thinking and operational skills. You’ll influence pricing, drive promotional opportunities, support author and brand pitches and provide market intelligence that informs decisions across the business.
We are open to considering candidates with varying levels of relevant experience; depending on the skills the successful applicant brings, we would consider appointing an individual at a Sales Manager level.
Your key responsibilities:
Lead and grow our trading relationships with online retail partners across print and ebooks, driving performance and long-term growth.
Develop and deliver ebook sales strategies across the Adult and Children’s frontlist and backlist, working closely with divisional Sales Directors.
Partner with colleagues in our Digital Communications team and manage our BookBub activity to maximize promotional impact.
Create effective ebook pricing strategies and provide regular sales reporting to support business planning, forecasting and budgeting.
Support author and brand presentations with clear, insight-driven commercial recommendations.
Identify and grow Non-Trade ebook sales channels.
Mentor, guide, and support direct reports and contribute to the positive development and growth of individuals within the wider team.
Provide market analysis and insights to influence publishing and sales strategies across the business.
Essential experience, abilities and knowledge you’ll need to succeed:
Publishing sales experience: Experience in publishing sales, specifically with ebook sales and online account-management responsibilities.
Organization: Ability to prioritize tasks and projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Curiosity: A proactive approach to exploring and leveraging digital tools and AI to streamline routine tasks and improve workflow efficiency.
Community: Proven ability to build long-term trusting relationships with both colleagues and external partners.
Integrity: A thoughtful, honest approach to decision-making, ensuring your work is delivered with professionalism and care.
Audience focus: Passionate about connecting readers with our books in all published formats.
Software/tools: Experience managing complex processes and spreadsheets in Excel with a willingness to work with new systems and tools.
People management: Experience in line management, mentoring, and guiding team members to support their professional development.
Communication: Clear communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging presentations to a range of audiences.

This is a full time, permanent role, and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.
