Editorial Assistant – Pan Fiction

Your team:
Pan Fiction is home to the biggest and best commercial brands, including Peter James, Ann Cleeves, David Baldacci, Stuart MacBride, Kristin Hannah, Danielle Steel and Lucinda Riley. We publish critically acclaimed and award-winning commercial fiction from Araminta Hall, Ellery Lloyd, Alexandra Potter, Rosie Walsh and Lucy Jane Wood, as well as exciting debuts including Anna Brook-Mitchell, Jo Murray and Steph McGovern. We relentlessly drive creativity and innovation whilst supporting each other to deliver the very best work for our authors and to define the future of commercial fiction.
Your role:
As the Editorial Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the editorial process from manuscript to publication and be responsible for the smooth running of our administrative processes. You will have the opportunity to assist in the development and production of a wide range of commercial fiction and be a key support in keeping books on track from the moment of submission all the way through to publication and beyond. We are looking for someone who is passionate about commercial fiction and can multitask and meet deadlines.
Your key responsibilities:
Keeping our bibliographic database and book metadata up to date
Assisting the Publishing Director with acquiring books by creating costings and researching the competition
Writing agendas and minutes for departmental meetings
Preparing texts for handover to the production team
Sending authors copies of their books
Helping with picture research and clearing permissions
Coding invoices and getting approval for author payments
Acting as the main port of call for colleagues who have questions about the publishing schedule and fielding external enquiries.
Essential experience, abilities and knowledge you’ll need to succeed:
Excellent administration skills with the ability to organise, prioritise and manage workflow
Effective written and oral communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Proven interest in commercial fiction and current market trends
A willingness to learn new skills
Aptitude for team work
Experience working with systems and tools such as MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Workspace and Biblio
Ability to work calmly under pressure.
Desirable skills we’d love you to have:
Experience of working in the publishing industry or related fields
Evidence of working with bespoke in-house systems and/or willingness to learn
The desire to contribute ideas.

This is a full time, permanent role, and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.
