Marketing Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Macmillan Children’s Books Communications team. We're on the lookout for someone passionate about children’s books and creating audience-first marketing campaigns.
Your team:
You’ll be working within a twelve-strong Communications team, which comprises marketing and publicity. We are friendly and collaborative, responsible for implementing engaging and creative campaigns for titles ranging from baby books all the way up to young adult, and including non-fiction and poetry. You will work in close coordination with our digital and publicity colleagues as well as editorial and sales, ensuring the best return on investment at all times and providing the best standards of author care.
Your role:
As the Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for devising and implementing effective, audience-appropriate marketing campaigns to drive sales of a wide range of children’s books: picture books, young fiction, middle-grade fiction, young adult, poetry and non-fiction. Your campaigns will launch and grow high potential debuts into established market-leading brands, as well as boosting the sales and profile of established authors, illustrators and titles.
Your key responsibilities:
Run marketing campaigns to time and within a set budget for a range of titles
Ensure that reader segmentation and consumer insight are applied to every campaign and to be an advocate for reader awareness around the business
Ensure that all plans are communicated in a clear and timely way to all internal and external stakeholders
Work collaboratively with departments and teams across the business to maximise effectiveness for brands and campaigns
Create a high quality of design and messaging across all communications at all times
Analyse the effectiveness of your own marketing campaigns and those of competitors and use those findings to strengthen future campaigns.
Essential experience, abilities and knowledge you’ll need to succeed:
A passion for children’s books and marketing to a family audience
A highly effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
Excellent eye for detail
Strong copywriting and creative design skills
A highly organised individual
Significant experience in marketing and proven track record of running multi-channel campaigns
Track record of working effectively as part of a team is essential.
Desirable skills we’d love you to have:
Experience in publishing and/or marketing products or content to a children’s and family audience
Design skills such as Photoshop, InDesign or Canva Pro

This is a full time, permanent, and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.
