About the team:
The Digital Communications team at Pan Macmillan covers the breadth of the digital marketing ecosphere. From metadata to search engine optimisation (SEO), data collection to analysis, paid digital ads to influencer coordination and much more, the Digital Communications team aims to touch every element of our books as they appear on the internet – and make sure that they find as wide an audience as possible.

About the role:
As a Digital Communications Apprentice, you will dive into the exciting world of digital marketing within the publishing industry. This dynamic role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various specialist areas of our Digital Communications team. You’ll get to spend dedicated time learning from and contributing to our email team, understanding how we connect with readers directly; our web content team, shaping how our books appear online; our video and metadata team, creating engaging visual content and ensuring our books are discoverable; and our paid media team, exploring how we reach new audiences through advertising. This apprenticeship is designed to give you a well-rounded foundation in digital communications, allowing you to contribute to real campaigns and develop a diverse skill set crucial for a career in this fast-paced field.
Key responsibilities:
Understanding, implementing and optimising SEO strategies
Participating in the creation and execution of data-driven, email, social, content and influencer marketing campaigns
Creating engaging short-form video content for varied platforms
Assisting in maintaining and enhancing the website’s functionality and editorial content
Contributing to establishing and growing the brand’s presence on social media platforms
Working collaboratively with various teams to execute unique and effective marketing strategies
Assisting in analysing digital marketing data to guide change and report on performance.
Skills you’ll need to succeed:
An interest in digital marketing and eagerness to learn
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team
Willingness to stay up-to-date with digital marketing trends and developments
Excellent time management skills
Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond thoughtfully to changing needs
Experience working with software such as MS Office and Google Workspace.
About the programme:
As a Publishing Apprentice, you’ll gain exposure to all of the key stages in the publishing process, starting from the initial conception of a book all the way through to production, sales, marketing and publicity processes.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll be invited to monthly 3-hour live sessions hosted online in addition to working on your course content via our online learning platform.
To meet the off-the-job requirements for your apprenticeship, you’ll also spend a minimum of 6 hours a week within the workplace, developing your publishing knowledge, skills and behaviours listed within your bespoke LDN Training Plan.
Salary: £24,000

This is a full time 15 month fixed term role, and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.
